Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about BounceLayer email verification, socket checks, bulk cleaning, API rate limits, and pricing.

BounceLayer initiates a direct TCP socket connection over port 25 to the recipient domain's authoritative mail server (MX). We execute the initial standard SMTP protocol handshake commands (HELO -> MAIL FROM -> RCPT TO) to confirm if the mailbox exists and accepts incoming messages. Immediately upon receiving the server status code (such as 250 OK or 550 Mailbox Not Found), BounceLayer issues a QUIT command and gracefully closes the connection. Zero message body is ever delivered to the recipient's inbox.

BounceLayer achieves a 99.2% deliverability accuracy rate. By performing live multi-layer checks (RFC 5322 syntax validation, DNS MX resolution, direct port 25 mailbox handshake, catch-all detection, and disposable domain filtering), we ensure bad, dead, or burner emails are filtered out with precision.
